COURSE TITLE: PSYCHOLOGY Grades 10-12, 1/2 credit

Course Description: The course is an introduction to the process of personality growth and development. Students will also begin to understand how experimental methods are applied to the study of the basic concepts of psychology. Topics covered include: biology and behavior (brain, heredity), consciousness as a construct (sleep and other altered states of consciousness), learning (classical, operant, cognitive), theories of personality psychoanalytic, learning, humanistic, sociocultural), stress and health, psychological disorders anxiety, dissociative, mood, schizophrenia), and social psychology if time permits. Students will complete several personal style inventories to help them learn about themselves.
